December 16, 2002 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
Rosslyn, Va. -- NEMA, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, has released TC 14-2002, Reinforced Thermosetting Resin Conduit (RTRC) and Fittings.
The document is an adopted Underwriters Laboratories standard, UL 1684.
TC 14 specifies the requirements for halogen-free reinforced thermosetting resin conduit (RTRC) and associated fittings for installation and use in accordance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, part 1, and the National Electrical Code for non-hazardous locations. The products specified in the standard are intended for use at, but not limited to, -40 degrees C to 110 degrees C continuous operating temperature. It covers conduit Type AG for use above or below ground, and Type BG for use below ground only.
NEMA TC 14 was last revised more than a decade ago, but this completely new document incorporates a number of important changes, including the removal of expansion joint diagrams, the combination of heavy wall and standard wall dimensions into one table, and additional qualification tests such as joint water tightness and water absorption.
NEMA is the leading trade association in the United States representing the interests of electroindustry manufacturers. For more information, visit www.nema.org.
