Northrop Grumman Corporation held a series of meetings with Australian defence industry suppliers in Washington, D.C., from May 13-20 as part of the Team Defence Australia industry mission.
A video from the event can be found here.
Northrop Grumman has been expanding activity in Australia by building relationships with Australian industry through the company's global supply chain and sustainment support systems since establishing a corporate presence in country in 2012.
"It's vital for us to engage directly with suppliers," said Ian Irving, chief executive, Northrop Grumman Australia. "Those face-to-face gatherings are helping us achieve our company goals of developing local capabilities and promoting opportunities for Aussie industry to shine as part of our global supply chain.
"This engagement connects Australian suppliers to Northrop Grumman's programs, both Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales, across the globe."
The 2015 mission built upon successful events in 2013 and 2014, and was delivered in collaboration with the Defence Materiel Organisation, the Victorian State Government, the United States Government and other key U.S. defence industry companies.
"Australian suppliers visiting Northrop Grumman in the U.S. is a valuable exercise for all involved," said Irving. "Northrop Grumman leaders can explain their priorities and needs and, importantly, they can hear about the innovative things being done in Australia."
Designed to promote the Australian defence industry, the mission allows companies to present their capabilities to major U.S. defence contractors and the U.S. government. It provides vital two-way networking opportunities not normally available to smaller companies.
"The ability to sit with people from across Northrop Grumman and to talk with us about their company, is extremely important," added Cheryl Smythe, corporate director Northrop Grumman Supply Chain, Australia. "Our international suppliers provide integral elements of so many of our products."
