Emergence of inflatable SATCOM antennas is one of the trends spurring the growth of this market. New developments in antenna and satellite technology, along with the nimble and high-capacity global networks, has brought military forces on the forefront of technology and capability. The introduction of inflatable SATCOM antennas, designed for ground military use in remote areas and adverse weather conditions is one such critical development. They are deployed at locations where the movement and installation of standard rigid satellite antennas are challenging. These antennas have the transmission power advantages of a large antenna and portability and low weight features of a small aperture antenna.
According to the report, introduction of MNVR program is a key driver contributing to the growth of this market. The US Army have improvised battlefield communication, without the use of satellites. They have come up with high-bandwidth and vehicle-mounted networking radios, which use LOS communications waveforms. The advanced solution, called as the mid-tier networking vehicular radios (MNVRs), link the army men with battalion and brigade commands, providing ground-level connectivity. The MNVR program also allows rapid exchange of voice messages, images, and video with commanders. The integration of MNVR into Army tactical vehicles also ensures wireless communications and networking services for both mobile and stationary forces.
