Current IssueVoices of the Industry
We take the pulse of the PCB industry by sharing insights from leading fabricators and suppliers in this month's issue. We've gathered their thoughts on the new U.S. administration, spending, the war in Ukraine, and their most pressing needs. It’s an eye-opening and enlightening look behind the curtain.
The Essential Guide to Surface Finishes
We go back to basics this month with a recount of a little history, and look forward to addressing the many challenges that high density, high frequency, adhesion, SI, and corrosion concerns for harsh environments bring to the fore. We compare and contrast surface finishes by type and application, take a hard look at the many iterations of gold plating, and address palladium as a surface finish.
It's Show Time!
In this month’s issue of PCB007 Magazine we reimagine the possibilities featuring stories all about IPC APEX EXPO 2025—covering what to look forward to, and what you don’t want to miss.

EIPC to Address Raw Material Price Hikes at Winter Conference
December 14, 2016 | EIPCEstimated reading time: Less than a minute
The European Institute of Printed Circuits (EIPC) will be running a special panel discussion at the upcoming EIPC Winter Conference in Salzburg to look at the issues facing the raw materials supply chain for the PCB industry worldwide.
The price increases that have taken, and are taking, place will have a significant impact on both the manufacturers and the end-users, and there is uncertainty over the length of duration of these cost hikes.
EIPC have gathered together Andres Folge from Technolam, Karl Stollenwerk from Isola and Thomas Michels from Ventec to talk about the impact of this issue in the global PCB supply chain.
This is an additional item on the programme, and will take place immediately after the keynote speech by Walt Custer of Custer Consulting who is quite familiar with the reasons behind the recent increases.
The Winter Conference takes place on February 2–3, 2017 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Salzburg.

Material Insight: David Griesel: Career Success Requires Tenacity, Flexibility
10/23/2024 | Dr. Preeya Kuray -- Column: Material InsightDavid Griesel, CEO of Sunrise Group, has been in the PCB industry for nearly 50 years. “I didn’t even have a desk when I started,” says David, who, as a fresh college graduate, got his start at Norplex, a company in Wisconsin that made plastic. “At that time, I had no idea what plastic was even about.” But it gave him an opportunity to learn the business from the ground up. He worked in customer service, followed by technical sales and marketing through several iterations of the company, including as Isola. I hope you’ll enjoy this interview with David as much as I did.

Nolan’s Notes: Chips Don’t Float
09/05/2023 | Nolan Johnson -- Column: Nolan's NotesRonnie Chatterji is returning to academia. This is big news because Chatterji is the technology advisor to the Biden administration, and a central figure in shepherding the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. Steven Overly, writing in Politico on Aug. 2, 2023, says that Chatterji’s return to Duke University “comes as the Biden administration’s semiconductor strategy has evolved from a frenzied search for a short-term fix to the global chips shortage to placing long-term bets on the U.S.-based manufacturing facilities in an effort to depend less on suppliers in Taiwan.”
