December 20, 2017 | Vitronics SoltecEstimated reading time: 1 minute
ITW EAE, the Electronic Assembly Equipment division of Illinois Tool Works, has announced a new partnership agreement with Kurt Whitlock Associates (KWA) to represent and distribute Vitronics Soltec soldering equipment beginning January 1, 2018 in Florida. This agreement is an expansion of KWA’s representation of ITW EAE’s product line which already included MPM printers, Camalot dispensers, and Electrovert soldering and cleaning equipment.
"Kurt Whitlock Associates has represented Electrovert since 1978 and MPM since 1985 with over 900 systems placed in Florida," said John Fanning, ITW EAE Sales Director. "We are pleased to have someone with a proven track record represent our Vitronics Soltec soldering equipment in Florida."
Through a 12,400 Sq. Ft. Facility in St. Cloud, Florida, Kurt Whitlock Associates markets, distributes, and demonstrates industry leading technologies and process solutions. KWA's full service facility is one of the few in the US Electronics Industry. KWA brings machine technology and materials together for hands-on demonstrations in real time, with factory experts running customer’s production challenges and providing repeatable process solutions.
"The KWA alignment with Vitronics Soltec is a Homecoming for us as we were Vitronic Soltec's very first Florida Representative in 1984 and placed 55 reflow ovens as SMT assembly was just getting launched nationally," said Kurt Whitlock, President of KWA. "We are extremely honored to be selected to represent the complete portfolio of ITW EAE Industry leading products."
Vitronics Soltec is a brand of ITW EAE, a division of Illinois Tools Works, Inc. They specialize in the design and manufacturing of mass soldering equipment for the global circuit board assembly market, and includes Reflow, Wave and Selective Soldering technologies. ITW EAE brings together world-leading brands of electronics assembly equipment including MPM, Camalot, Electrovert, Vitronics Soltec, and Despatch. For more information visit www.itweae.com.

Knocking Down the Bone Pile: Gold Mitigation for Class 2 Electronics
05/07/2025 | Nash Bell -- Column: Knocking Down the Bone PileIn electronic assemblies, the integrity of connections between components is paramount for ensuring reliability and performance. Gold embrittlement and dissolution are two critical phenomena that can compromise this integrity. Gold embrittlement occurs when gold diffuses into solder joints or alloys, resulting in mechanical brittleness and an increased susceptibility to cracking. Conversely, gold dissolution involves the melting away of gold into solder or metal matrices, potentially altering the electrical and mechanical properties of the joint.
