The real cost to manufacture a PCB encompasses everything that goes into making the product: the materials and other value-added supplies, machine and personnel costs, and most importantly, your quality. A hard look at real costs seems wholly appropriate.
Alternate Metallization Processes
Traditional electroless copper and electroless copper immersion gold have been primary PCB plating methods for decades. But alternative plating metals and processes have been introduced over the past few years as miniaturization and advanced packaging continue to develop.

UP Media Group Releases Final Registration Numbers for PCB West
September 28, 2018 | UP Media GroupEstimated reading time: 1 minute
UP Media Group Inc. today announced final registration figures for PCB West 2018, held earlier this month at the Santa Clara, California Convention Center. Nearly 2,600 electronics technologists registered to attend the three-day conference or exhibits, show organizers said.
“PCB West remains the leading event for printed circuit board design engineers, designers and manufacturers,” said Mike Buetow, PCB West conference chair. “Highlights of this year’s conference included sessions on RF and mixed signal design, 3-D printing, and a panel on recruiting new employees. Exhibitors were very pleased with the show floor traffic, which was steady throughout the day. And several new companies have already inquired about becoming exhibitors next year.”
Mark Finstad, senior application engineer at Flexible Circuit Technologies and a longtime PCB West speaker, said, “PCB West gives attendees a forum stacked with industry-recognized experts in many PCB manufacturing disciplines, including high-speed PCB design, manufacturing PCBs, troubleshooting, flexible circuitry and many more. Most, if not all, the instructors make themselves available after the class is over to address specific questions from individuals. All in all, it’s a great place to learn about all things PCB!”
“Great show again,” added Eriko Yamato, marketing manager, FaradFlex. “We always get great traffic, leads and leave with a great feeling.”
PCB West annually provides a conference and exhibition focused on the design and manufacture of PCBs, HDI, electronics assembly and circuit board test. Next year’s show takes place September 9-11, 2019, at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
