MKS Instruments Sells 1,000th ESI 5335 System
April 13, 2020 | MKS Instruments, Inc.Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

MKS Instruments, Inc., MKS, a global provider of technologies that enable advanced processes and improve productivity, today announced that it has sold its 1,000th ESI model 5335 flexible PCB laser processing system. Evolved from the iconic model 5000, with subsequent models in production in various iterations since 1995, the 5335 has become synonymous with flexible PCB laser processing. It has helped to take flex PCB UV laser drilling mainstream and has helped the flex PCB processing industry keep pace with challenges driven by consumer device manufacturers’ push for smaller form factors.
“The 5335 has been the de-facto standard, and the go-to system for a wide variety of applications over the years,” said Patrick Riechel, MKS’s Director of ESI Flex Systems Product Marketing. “Although a number of newer models are based on the 5335 platform, the original 5335 is still seen as a workhorse that is a great fit for numerous processing applications.”
The 1,000th system rolled off the manufacturing line in Singapore in March and is destined for the Vietnam production facility of the Sonova Group, based in Stäfa, Switzerland. “This will be our fifth 5335 system,” said Stephan Kaderli, Director Operations SOCS at Sonova. “As a global company that relies on global support, it’s important that we have systems we can rely on. The 5335 has proven itself over the years, and we are happy to be adding this system to our existing set of 5335s.”
