Dymax Continues to Support Medical Device Manufacturers Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
April 14, 2021 | Dymax CorporationEstimated reading time: 1 minute
The coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep the globe, posing extraordinary and ongoing challenges for medical device manufacturers who produce equipment used in emergency medical care. Not only has the demand for respirators in intensive care units increased significantly since the start of the pandemic, but countless disposable syringes and other medical consumable goods are also required to conduct vaccination and testing campaigns.
From catheters to hoses, respirator masks, blood transfusion sets, IV needles, in-vitro test kits or syringes: for any medical device to function continuously and reliably, its individual components must be perfectly bonded. With its highly specialized, light curing materials and curing equipment, Dymax makes a valuable contribution to producing medical devices and consumable materials, as well as point-of-care testing kits.
Light-curable adhesives from Dymax offer key benefits for the manufacturing process of these applications including tack-free cure when exposed to Broad Spectrum or UV LED light in just a few seconds. In addition, they are suited to perfectly bond classic materials such as PC, PVC, and PET, as well as difficult to bond plastics such as COC/COP foil laminates, Nylon 12 and PEBA, which are often used to manufacture complex medical devices.
Solvent-free medical products from Dymax have been extensively tested and fulfill the strict requirements of the medical device industry where needed, including ISO 10993 certification, biocompatibility, and gamma, ethylene oxide, and E-beam sterilization methods. Another advantage of many innovative Dymax light-curable adhesives is the integrated Encompass® technology. It helps make both manual and automatic production processes more effective, and above all safer, by combining two controlling mechanisms – the See-Cure color change during curing, and Ultra-Red® fluorescence technology. By doing so, Dymax delivers faster processing times and higher production rates for manufacturers, which is required to produce diagnostic and treatment equipment as well as medical consumable materials during a pandemic.
