The real cost to manufacture a PCB encompasses everything that goes into making the product: the materials and other value-added supplies, machine and personnel costs, and most importantly, your quality. A hard look at real costs seems wholly appropriate.
Alternate Metallization Processes
Traditional electroless copper and electroless copper immersion gold have been primary PCB plating methods for decades. But alternative plating metals and processes have been introduced over the past few years as miniaturization and advanced packaging continue to develop.
Technology Roadmaps
In this issue of PCB007 Magazine, we discuss technology roadmaps and what they mean for our businesses, providing context to the all-important question: What is my company’s technology roadmap?

Insulectro to Host OEM Forum ‘(FAB!)RICATOR – Engage Your Fabricator First’
May 17, 2021 | InsulectroEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Insulectro, the largest distributor of materials for use in the printed circuit board and printed electronics industries, will host an OEM FORUM on Thursday, May 20, at 11:05 a.m. Pacific. The topic is (FAB!)RICATOR – Engage Your Fabricator First to Make Rev One Work. The FORUM will be conducted on the ZOOM teleconferencing platform.
Join this 45-minute (or so) session if you want to lower your costs, shorten lead time, and increase yields. All positive results that can happen when your fabricator is engaged early in the design process. With special guest, Gerry Partida, Director of Technology at Summit Interconnect, our "better together" team of Michael Creeden CID+ MIT (our Technical Director for Design Education) and Chris Hunrath provide attendees with seven significant advantages of inviting your fabricator into the design and planning stages. The session is hosted by veteran technical account manager Ron Murdock. Partida is very well known and respected throughout the industry. He’s active with IPC and is a strong advocate for the PCB industry.
Insulectro Vice President of Technology Chris Hunrath CID+ and Technical Director for Design Education are well-known presences in the PCB industry. They are frequent webinar panelists objectively providing OEMs and fabricators with recommendations on design audits, materials and processes reinforced with material science perspectives. Based out of Insulectro’s Silicon Valley distribution center, Hunrath is a “rapid-dial” resource for those needing quick guidance. Southern Californian Mike Creeden is an engaging and provocative speaker and educator. His ability to solve challenges faced by OEMs and fabricators is legendary. Two great Insulectro resources, we are even “better together.”
This Forum should be of particular interest to OEMs, engineers, and designers wanting you save time and costs with as few design revisions as possible. Registration is required to join the session and attendees will need to use the above link to access the Zoom application or website to participate.
