SERMA Microelectronics: A Contributor to COPERNICUS LSTM Satellite Project
November 1, 2021 | SERMA MicroelectronicsEstimated reading time: Less than a minute

SERMA Microelectronics has been selected by AIRBUS Defence and Space for the assembly of an optical sensor mounted on the LSTM (Land Surface Temperature Monitoring) satellite.
This satellite is part of COPERNICUS, the European Earth observation program, and will aim to measure the planet’s temperature precisely. It will be used to optimize agricultural irrigation by determining the ideal amount of water to be applied to each plot of land.
AIRBUS Madrid will be in charge of the overall project management with the design and assembly of the satellite and AIRBUS Toulouse will develop the advanced optical instrument. This new project confirms the recognized know-how of SERMA Microelectronics in the handling and assembly of large CMOS optical chips, especially for the challenging Space and Military sectors.
