Gardien Group to Offer Podcasts

Gardien Group is pleased to announce the upcoming release of their new Podcast series hosted by Gardien’s VP Quality NA Todd Kolmodin and Gardien’s Global VP of Quality and R & D Rick Meraw. With the occasional addition of guest speakers, Todd & Rick will dive into a gambit of subjects. Subjects included in the upcoming Podcasts include:
- What is ET
- Flex Testing
- You and IPC9252
- The In’s and Out’s of Test Point Assignment
- And much more!
We will also offer Equipment Sessions including:
- Jason Posey explaining the Gardien Equipment options
- What is Gardien’s Flying Probe lineup with Holger Kern and Rick Meraw
Our Podcasts will be available on the Gardien Website as well as many of the popular Podcast platforms. We try to keep the presentations limited to a 30 minute timeline so it’s convenient to download and listen at your leisure.
Todd Kolmodin was quoted as saying “It has been a fun experience to get into the Podcast arena. A few bumps on the learning curve in the beginning but we are enjoying bringing our information to the industry. Information sharing is a strong tool in the success of the industry, and we are proud to be a part of it.”

Worldwide Silicon Wafer Shipments Dip 5% in Q1 2024
05/07/2024 | SEMIWorldwide silicon wafer shipments decreased 5.4% quarter-over-quarter to 2,834 million square inches in the first quarter of 2024, a 13.2% drop from the 3,265 million square inches recorded during the same quarter last year, the SEMI Silicon Manufacturers Group (SMG) reported in its quarterly analysis of the silicon wafer industry.

We’ve been planning this issue on artificial intelligence for the past few months, and, in fact, I had already written this column about a month ago. Then I went to IPC APEX EXPO and upended it all. I originally had compared AI to drag racing in that (CPU) horsepower and new (data) vehicles have steadily delivered higher performance competition. That seemed pretty accurate given how generative AI models dominated the popular media with amazing results—and sometimes spectacular crashes.
