Regal Rexnord Corporation and Honeywell announced that the two companies have entered into a multi-year collaboration to build technologies for the emerging Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) market and be installed on Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The two companies will work together to develop technologies that integrate electro-mechanical components, systems and software on AAM aircraft. This collaboration supports Honeywell’s alignment with the compelling megatrends of automation, the future of aviation and energy transition. Both Regal Rexnord and Honeywell support customers with product portfolios that are backed by decades of industry knowledge and engineering expertise.
"By leveraging our complementary skills and expertise, we will deliver exceptional value to our customers in the aerospace industry,” said Louis Pinkham, CEO of Regal Rexnord. “This partnership also underscores our mutual commitment to sustainability and innovation, which are core values for both companies. By working together, we aim to develop advanced solutions that enhance performance while promoting a more sustainable future in aerospace."
“This alliance blends Honeywell’s flight control system integration and certification expertise with Regal Rexnord’s advanced, automated manufacturing expertise to accelerate entry-into-service to meet AAM demand,” said Dave Shilliday, vice president and general manager, Advanced Air Mobility, Honeywell Aerospace Technologies. “We are confident that this arrangement will be hugely beneficial to AAM companies that need guidance and support to achieve their certification and flight goals.”
Collaboration scope may include multiple manufacturing points in the value stream, including components manufacturing through final products’ assembly and test of Honeywell’s flight control actuation systems. Additionally, a successful collaboration in this high-volume manufacturing arena could lead to other technology and product advancements, enabling future growth in additional aerospace products.
