The real cost to manufacture a PCB encompasses everything that goes into making the product: the materials and other value-added supplies, machine and personnel costs, and most importantly, your quality. A hard look at real costs seems wholly appropriate.
Alternate Metallization Processes
Traditional electroless copper and electroless copper immersion gold have been primary PCB plating methods for decades. But alternative plating metals and processes have been introduced over the past few years as miniaturization and advanced packaging continue to develop.

Altix Joins the MGI Digital Technology Group
December 10, 2024 | ALTIXEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Altix announces its merger with MGI Digital Technology, a strategic alliance with strong synergies, officially sealed on September 30, 2024.
MGI, a leading player in digital printing and finishing technologies, and Altix, a specialist in the design and manufacturing of high-tech equipment for various industries, are joining forces with the ambition to build a more dynamic and promising shared future.
A Partnership for Sustainable and Innovative Growth
Since 2021, MGI and Altix have closely collaborated, particularly through the codevelopment of the AltiJet, a major innovation in the field of printed circuit board production. This fruitful collaboration and a shared vision for innovation naturally led to this strategic alliance.
The objective is to strengthen our market position and provide our customers with ever more efficient solutions.
Promising Synergies for Harmonious Development
This new alliance aims to develop significant synergies in several key areas, as explained by Jérôme van Straaten, President of Altix: "By combining our expertise in R&D, we can accelerate the development of new technologies while improving our existing products. Additionally, we are optimizing our supply chains for more efficient resource management without compromising the quality of products and services our customers expect. Finally, pooling our production capabilities will allow us to increase flexibility and responsiveness to market demands."
Strengthening MGI’s Stake
With a majority stake and a capital increase of one million euros in cash, MGI becomes the majority shareholder of Altix, holding a 71.94% share.
For Edmond Abergel, CEO of MGI Digital Technology, this merger has a strategic dimension: "MGI and Altix have known each other for many years as French companies operating in industrial high-tech and strongly focused on exports. Our analysis of development opportunities revealed that traditional PCB manufacturing processes are on the brink of a transition to additive methods. Altix's strong position in this market, combined with our expertise in industrial digital printing solutions, naturally led to this integration. This merger allows the MGI Group to expand its scope of activity in a sector with high growth potential."
No Changes for Our Clients and Partners
This merger does not entail any changes for Altix's clients and partners. The existing team remains unchanged, and we will continue to provide the same level of excellence and commitment for which we are known.
A New Era for MGI and Altix
This merger represents an exciting opportunity to capitalize on our respective strengths and create new prospects.
We are convinced that this union is a major step toward sustainable and successful development, to the benefit of our customers and partners. We thank you for your continued trust and look forward to sharing the results of this collaboration with you.
