W. Gessmann Showcases Range of Innovative AMR-Solutions at LogiMAT 2025

The international trade fair LogiMAT opens its doors in Stuttgart in March 2025, showcasing innovations in intralogistics and process management. W. Gessmann GmbH will present cutting-edge solutions for the intelligent use of AMRs and cobots in industrial intralogistics and workshops at Stand 8D65.

“LogiMAT is an important trade fair for us to showcase our efficient robotics solutions to a broad specialist audience,” explains Steffen Kuhnle, Head of the Robotics Division at Gessmann. The key highlight of the exhibition will be the GESSbot Gb350 AMR solution, which can be customised with a wide variety of superstructures to meet individual customer requirements. “The GESSbot can be deployed for a wide range of tasks, and we will be demonstrating this versatility at our stand,” Kuhnle continues. The AMR from Gessmann is specifically designed to meet customers' logistical needs. At the trade fair, it will be displayed in its role as a trolley transporter. The GESSbot trolley transporter can autonomously pick up, transport, and set down GESSMANN trolleys at their designated locations. “During transport, the trolley is securely connected to the GESSbot. Our customers can use it to transport goods on pallets, in pallet cages, or in other containers,” says Kuhnle.

The GESSbot can also function as a roller conveyor, an option that will also be on display at LogiMAT 2025. The GESSbot roller conveyor is able to pick up and transfer small load carriers fully automatically from transfer stations. It is designed for transporting two R-KLT 6415 containers. The system ensures safety through a locking mechanism with a metal plunger and automated detection of transfer stations. Additionally, the GESSbot roller conveyor can be integrated with an RFID reader and the GESSbot lifting system, enabling lifting movements of up to 300 kg with a flexible lifting range of up to 300 mm. With the GESSbot, Gessmann offers another lifting system that is characterized by a weight and height adjustment of the load carrier. It is particularly suitable for smaller loads and enables greater variability in the height adjustment of the lifting systems.

Another successful implementation of the GESSbot was carried out in collaboration with Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG. This project focused on modern C-parts management, using a GESSbot equipped with an ORSY®mat dispensing machine for a quick and cost-effective internal transportation. By deploying a mobile dispensing system that can be requested by employees, an intelligent material supply process has been implemented. “We have optimised decentralised material dispensing and minimised work-related movement for material procurement. This not only reduces strain on employees but also enhances efficiency, flexibility, and workplace safety,” Kuhnle emphasises. This solution will also be presented at LogiMAT.

The AMR-cobot combination from Gessmann will be another highlight at the trade fair. In collaboration with Techman’s TM-12 Cobot, the GESSbot can perform highly precise tasks at machines and transfer stations. Using its built-in camera and AI-driven object recognition, the cobot can adapt to changing conditions when loading and unloading machines. This enables efficient and secure placement and retrieval of components in CNC processing machines or measuring devices.

“We recently implemented this solution with VICIVISION GmbH, where the components to be tested were automatically inserted into an optical shaft measuring device for non-contact gear measurement,” continues Kuhnle. If not, all activities can be carried out with one gripper, the automatic change of gripper tools is realised via a change system. The system also allows for automatic tool gripper changes using a quick-change mechanism. With Gessmann-Cobot collaborative automation, repetitive tasks can be automated, reducing worker fatigue. Additionally, tasks can continue seamlessly beyond regular shifts or overnight. These systems are also used in the implementation of autonomous warehouse logistics. They offer supportive added value in automated pick-and-pack as well as in the transportation of goods in cooperation with people. Gessmann has acquired a great deal of experience in this area through the implementation of projects relating to safety concepts, operation and software adaptations.

As a partner of Taiwanese manufacturer Techman, Gessmann will also present a standalone cobot application in Stuttgart in the form of a palletising situation with a payload of up to 25 kg. With a reach of 1,902 mm, the TM25 is perfectly suited for moving products from point A to point B. “The TM25 is very user-friendly, as tasks can be intuitively assigned via an Touchscreen,” says Kuhnle. He adds, “This makes the cobot an excellent automation solution for industries such as mechanical engineering, automotive, semiconductors, consumer electronics, and food processing.”
