Kimball Electronics has announced the addition of a 300,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Indianapolis centered on the medical industry.
Kimball CEO Richard D. Phillips revealed the information during the company’s May 6 Q3 earnings call. He stated, “This expansion strengthens our Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) capabilities, including precision injection molding, device assembly, and cold chain management— supporting the production of medical disposables, surgical instruments, and drug delivery devices like auto-injectors.”
He added that the company will transfer existing programs in Indianapolis over time and sell its existing facility. According to Evertiq, the new facility has enough floor space for future growth with new and existing customers, including the transferred work.
IBJ News reported that the Jasper-based company will open the plant on South Post Road, and the new facility is expected to create 345 jobs in its first six years.
