Technology Meets Vision: How Sony and AT&S are Redefining Consumer Electronics
October 27, 2025 | AT&SEstimated reading time: 1 minute
The Japanese electronics company Sony stands for pioneering achievements in consumer electronics like no other. Many products were groundbreaking and shaped the entire industry: the first transistor radio, the first Walkman, which revolutionized music listening on the go and became a cult object, milestones such as CD players & Blu-ray, PlayStation, Bravia smart TV technology as well as digital cameras & image sensors.
Sony combines technology, design and user experience in a unique way. With 110,000 employees and a total turnover of 85 billion US dollars, the Group continuously invests in research and development, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics and immersive media. With products such as the robot dog Aibo or the integration of 3D audio in headphones, Sony shows how entertainment can be rethought.
AT&S technology as the backbone of Sony products
Against this backdrop, the Austrian technology company AT&S is proud of its long-standing partnership with Sony. “It’s incredible to be part of Sony’s success story,” says Andreas Wippel, Vice President Sales at AT&S. As part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of AT&S Japan, the partnership between the two innovation drivers, which has also lasted 20 years, was recently celebrated at Sony’s headquarters in Shinagawa (Tokyo). Wippel: “These 20 years have been characterized by innovation, trust and great products that have changed the market.”
Many of the latest Sony products incorporate technology from Austria and high-end circuit boards from AT&S, for example when it comes to optimized energy flow and digital signal processing as the basis for the ultimate sound experience. The specific products in question cannot be revealed due to confidentiality agreements, but there is a very good chance that the latest Sony cam also contains AT&S technology.
