Beyond the Rulebook
What happens when the rule book is no longer useful, or worse, was never written in the first place? In today’s fast-moving electronics landscape, we’re increasingly asked to design and build what has no precedent, no proven path, and no tidy checklist to follow. This is where “Design for Invention” begins.
March Madness
From the growing role of AI in design tools to the challenge of managing cumulative tolerances, these articles in this issue examine the technical details, design choices, and manufacturing considerations that determine whether a board works as intended.

TTCI Brings Real-World Test Engineering to the 2026 APEX EXPO
February 17, 2026 | TTCIEstimated reading time: 1 minute
The Test Connection Inc. (TTCI), a trusted provider of electronic test and manufacturing solutions for more than 45 years, will exhibit at the 2026 APEX EXPO, taking place March 17–19 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. TTCI will exhibit in Booth 3522, showcasing what practical, production-ready test engineering looks like when it’s built around real manufacturing challenges—not theory. The company will highlight its depth of experience in product validation and its hands-on approach to helping customers move confidently from development into production.
The APEX EXPO brings together engineers, manufacturers, and solution providers focused on improving electronics assembly and reliability. At this year’s event, TTCI will demonstrate how its test strategies are developed with one goal in mind: making sure products perform as intended when it matters most.
TTCI supports a wide range of industries, including aerospace, medical, defense, and automotive, with services that span the full test lifecycle. Its capabilities include in-circuit test (ICT) development on Keysight 3070 and Teradyne platforms, flying probe testing for NPI and low- to medium-volume builds, boundary-scan testing using XJTAG and Keysight x1149 systems, and functional test development for complete product-level verification. TTCI also integrates specialty tools such as the Feasa LED Analyzer and SMH FlashRunner programmer to address application-specific requirements.
Rather than relying on off-the-shelf solutions, TTCI works closely with customers to design test systems that align with actual production conditions—balancing coverage, throughput, and long-term maintainability.
“Test is often the last opportunity to catch an issue before a product ships,” said Bert Horner, President of TTCI. “Our role is to make sure that final check is meaningful. We focus on building test solutions that fit the product, the process, and the realities of the manufacturing floor.”
In addition to its engineering services, TTCI will also highlight The Training Connection LLC (TTC-LLC), the company’s dedicated training division. TTC-LLC provides hands-on education in SMT, electronics assembly, and test engineering, helping technicians and engineers develop skills that translate directly to improved performance on the line. Training programs are offered through facilities in Maryland and Florida and are designed for fast-paced, modern production environments.
