AT&S Invests in Key Technologies of the Future In Fehring Facility
February 27, 2026 | AT&SEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
The Styrian high-tech company is strengthening its plant in Fehring with a comprehensive investment program. More than EUR 30 million will be invested in new technologies, sustainability and additional jobs. 50 new jobs and an apprentice workshop for skilled worker training will be created.
In addition to major investments at its headquarters in Leoben, AT&S is also consistently advancing the strategic development of its plant in Fehring. Following a phase of consolidation, the company is making targeted investments in future-oriented business areas and further expanding its technological expertise. The focus in Fehring is on applications in e-mobility, semiconductor test equipment as well as in the fields of medical technology, aerospace and defense.
Significant investments in key technologies of the future
Funds will be allocated to specific future projects in Fehring through March 2027: around EUR 8.8 million will be invested in production for semiconductor test equipment. A further approximately EUR 10 million relates to a strategic project for innovative inverter solutions in the field of e-mobility, in which AT&S acts as the sole supplier for a German premium manufacturer. In addition, around EUR 7 million will be invested in new production technologies for technologically demanding applications. Approximately EUR 4 million will be used to implement sustainability measures, including renewable energy, recycling concepts and sustainable heat supply as part of the “Raus aus Gas” project. Over the past two financial years, AT&S has already invested EUR 16.5 million in the plant, with a further EUR 14 million planned.
AT&S continues its upward trend
“We have repositioned ourselves and are investing specifically in technologies with strong future relevance. Around 70 percent of the funds are being directed into innovative products that are strategically important for our customers,” says Christopher Hermann, Director Operations and Plant Manager in Fehring. “These investments are a strong commitment to the plant, the region and the expertise of our team. The positive development shows that with our strategy and clear customer focus, we are on the right track,” adds AT&S CEO Michael Mertin.
The investment program is also accompanied by workforce growth. 35 additional employees have already been hired and a total of around 50 new positions are planned. An in-house apprentice workshop is also scheduled for 2026 to ensure the sustainable development of skilled workers. With this expansion step, AT&S underlines the strategic importance of the Fehring plant and strengthens the company’s long-term competitiveness in Europe.
Measured by revenue, AT&S Fehring is one of the largest printed circuit board plants in Europe and is increasingly benefiting from rising demand for security relevant high-tech solutions produced in Europe. With its own engineering department, the plant is also enhancing its ability to independently develop new printed circuit board technologies.
