Beyond the Rulebook
What happens when the rule book is no longer useful, or worse, was never written in the first place? In today’s fast-moving electronics landscape, we’re increasingly asked to design and build what has no precedent, no proven path, and no tidy checklist to follow. This is where “Design for Invention” begins.
March Madness
From the growing role of AI in design tools to the challenge of managing cumulative tolerances, these articles in this issue examine the technical details, design choices, and manufacturing considerations that determine whether a board works as intended.

Solderstar Appoints Scanditron as Nordic and Baltic Distribution Partner
April 2, 2026 | SolderStarEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Solderstar, a global leader in thermal profiling innovations, has appointed Scanditron as its official distribution partner across the Nordic and Baltic regions, further strengthening its presence in Northern Europe.
Scanditron brings over 50 years of experience supporting electronics manufacturers and is recognised for its technical capability, process support and long-standing relationships within the industry. The company supplies equipment, materials and automation solutions, alongside application expertise and service support, and will represent Solderstar across Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and the Baltics.
Through this partnership, Solderstar’s temperature profiling systems and process optimisation software will be delivered and supported locally across the region for reflow, wave and vapour phase soldering applications, helping manufacturers maintain control and consistency across production.
Chris Williams, Solderstar Head of European Sales, said: “We are pleased to partner with Scanditron across the Nordic and Baltic regions. Their established reputation for technical expertise, strong customer support and regional knowledge makes them a natural fit to represent Solderstar.
“As electronics manufacturing continues to move towards more complex assemblies and tighter process requirements, process control and verification are becoming increasingly critical. Working together, we will support customers in maintaining consistent and reliable production.”
Lars Pettersson, Product Manager at Scanditron, said: “We look forward to a long and successful partnership, one that brings significant value and cutting-edge process control technology to our entire region.”
Solderstar’s range of profiling systems, with specialised solutions for monitoring parameters from wave height and contact time to oxygen concentration, ensures manufacturers can identify production variations across all soldering processes. This partnership with Scanditron is a key milestone in Solderstar’s strategy to bring these advanced process control tools to a wider global audience.
