Beyond the Rulebook
What happens when the rule book is no longer useful, or worse, was never written in the first place? In today’s fast-moving electronics landscape, we’re increasingly asked to design and build what has no precedent, no proven path, and no tidy checklist to follow. This is where “Design for Invention” begins.
March Madness
From the growing role of AI in design tools to the challenge of managing cumulative tolerances, these articles in this issue examine the technical details, design choices, and manufacturing considerations that determine whether a board works as intended.

Omega EMS Expands U.S. Manufacturing Partnership with Power Center (a Duracell Authorized Licensee), Accelerating Domestic Renewable Energy Production
April 7, 2026 | Omega EMSEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Omega EMS, a leading U.S.-based electronics manufacturing services provider, has significantly expanded its manufacturing partnership with its sister company, Power Center, the North American licensee of the Duracell brand for energy storage systems.
This expanded collaboration marks a major step forward in scaling domestic manufacturing of renewable energy technologies, including advanced energy storage systems (ESS), microinverters, and related power electronics. The initiative reinforces both companies shared commitment to strengthening U.S. manufacturing capabilities while supporting the accelerating demand for clean, reliable, and affordable energy solutions.
Under the expanded partnership, Omega EMS will increase production capacity at its San Jose headquarters, bringing additional manufacturing processes, system integration, and final assembly operations in-house. The effort is designed to enhance supply chain resilience, improve product quality, and support compliance with evolving domestic content requirements tied to federal energy incentives.
“This expansion represents a natural evolution of our long-standing relationship with Power Center,” said Chris Alessio, President & CEO of Omega EMS. “By bringing more manufacturing to the United States, we are not only improving operational control and responsiveness but also aligning with the broader industry shift toward domestic production in the renewable energy sector.”
Power Center continues to experience strong growth across its residential and commercial energy storage product lines. The deeper integration with Omega EMS enables increased scalability while maintaining the high standards of reliability and performance associated with the Duracell name.
“Our collaboration with Omega EMS is foundational to our growth strategy,” said Aakar Patel, President at Power Center. “Expanding U.S.-based manufacturing allows us to better serve our customers, meet domestic content expectations, and deliver trusted energy solutions at scale.”
The expansion also supports broader industry trends driven by federal policies encouraging domestic production of clean energy technologies. By increasing U.S.-based manufacturing, Omega EMS and Power Center are well positioned to support customers seeking to qualify for investment tax credits (ITC), domestic content incentives, and other programs under current legislation.
In addition to manufacturing expansion, the companies are continuing to invest in workforce development, advanced manufacturing technologies, and process optimization to support long-term growth.
