EMI Strengthens Test Capability with Acculogic Flying Probe System

Express Manufacturing, Inc. (EMI), a global electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, has added the Acculogic Scorpion 980E Flying Probe Test System to its inspection and test operations, giving the company greater flexibility in how it validates and supports today’s increasingly complex electronics.
The flying probe platform allows EMI to test printed circuit boards without the need for dedicated fixtures, making it especially well-suited for prototypes, design validation, and lower- to mid-volume production. Programs can be developed quickly, helping customers move from design to build with fewer delays and less upfront cost.
For EMI customers, the investment translates into faster turnaround times and more thorough test coverage across a product’s lifecycle. The system’s ability to access difficult test points—thanks to programmable probe angles and multi-axis movement—means boards with dense layouts or taller components can be tested more reliably. Double-sided probing and a large test area also allow EMI to handle a wide range of board sizes and configurations, from early prototypes to full production builds.
The Scorpion 980E’s advanced motion control and real-time path optimization help ensure probes reach the intended test points efficiently while minimizing the risk of damage. Features such as programmable “no-fly zones” and adjustable probe speed give EMI’s engineering team added control when working with sensitive or highly populated assemblies.
The system can operate as a standalone solution or be integrated into a production line with automated board handling, giving EMI room to scale as customer demand evolves.
