Express Manufacturing, Inc. Expands Inspection Capabilities with Its 2nd TRI AXI

Express Manufacturing, Inc. (EMI), a global electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, has added a new TR7600FB SII from Test Research, Inc., further strengthening its inspection capabilities for complex, high-reliability assemblies. The system builds on EMI’s existing TR7600LL SIII platform, bringing the latest advancements in automated X-ray inspection to the production floor.
The TR7600FB SII introduces a redesigned X-ray imaging structure that delivers clearer images and more consistent inspection results, particularly for dense and high-layer-count assemblies. With 5 µm resolution and AI-driven inspection algorithms—including automated void detection and programming—the system improves defect detection while reducing false calls and operator intervention.
Designed for modern manufacturing environments, the system supports large board inspection up to 850 mm x 520 mm and 12 kg, making it well suited for EMI’s diverse customer base across aerospace, medical, industrial, and other high-reliability sectors. Its high-speed performance—up to 20 fields of view per second—allows EMI to maintain throughput while increasing inspection depth.
For EMI, the investment enhances process control and provides earlier detection of issues that can impact downstream performance. Inline fine-tuning capabilities allow adjustments to be made without interrupting production, helping maintain efficiency while improving consistency across builds.
The system is also designed for connected manufacturing environments, with support for SMEMA, SECS/GEM, IPC-CFX-2591, and IPC-HERMES-9852 communication standards, enabling seamless integration with EMI’s existing production and MES infrastructure.
By upgrading to the latest generation AXI technology, EMI is giving customers greater confidence in product quality—particularly for assemblies where hidden defects such as voiding, insufficient solder, or misalignment can be difficult to detect through traditional inspection methods.
Express Manufacturing, Inc. provides full-service electronics manufacturing, supporting customers from prototype through production with capabilities that include PCB assembly, inspection, and supply chain management. The addition of the TR7600FB SII aligns with the company’s focus on delivering consistent quality and supporting increasingly complex designs.
