Honeywell Aerospace in collaboration with Aeronamic, an aircraft components and services provider based in the Netherlands, has announced the commencement of a Modular Test Cell at the Royal Netherlands Air & Space Force (RNLASF), Woensdrecht Air Support Command. The delivery marks a key milestone in the establishment of Honeywell Aerospace’s Power & Thermal Management System (PTMS) turbomachine repair capability with regional F-35 operators.
Honeywell Aerospace’s PTMS integrates multiple aircraft systems into a single solution, increasing overall air vehicle efficiency and performance. Operators will benefit from accelerated turnaround times, reduced logistics requirements and increased aircraft availability, as a result of the new testing capability in the Netherlands.
Honeywell Aerospace led the Modular Test Cell development and integration, drawing on its experience in delivering scalable sustainment solutions for advanced defence platforms. Aeronamic provides regional maintenance, repair and overhaul expertise, supporting the operation of the facility and strengthening local sustainment capabilities for the entire F-35 fleet.
“This milestone reflects our continued commitment to supporting F-35 operators with advanced sustainment solutions that improve readiness and efficiency,” said Ryan Lees, vice president and general manager, Air & Thermal Controls, Honeywell Aerospace. “Facilitating in-region testing of PTMS turbomachines reduces turnaround times and quickly restores critical systems while strengthening local capability and capacity - which is a key element of our international defence strategy.”
“We are proud to expand our collaboration with Honeywell Aerospace and support the sustainment of F-35 aircraft in Europe,” said Steffen de Vries, chief executive officer, Aeronamic. “Establishing this capability at Woensdrecht Air Support Command strengthens regional support for operators and reinforces the Netherlands’ role in the F-35 sustainment network.”
The Modular Test Cell builds on Honeywell Aerospace and Aeronamic’s ongoing collaboration to establish regional sustainment infrastructure for the F-35 program. The capability aligns with broader efforts to localise maintenance and repair operations, reducing lifecycle costs and improving fleet readiness across Europe.
