Solving Your DAM Problems: Examine Your DAM WIP
There is an old saying, “Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt.” For example, when we are sick we have the option of just ignoring that fact and doing nothing about it. She takes our vital information, which is our temperature, pulse, and blood pressure and compares it to commonly accepted benchmarks. If any of our vital information is out of whack according to these benchmarks then an investigation is launched and remedies prescribed.
We can do the same type of thing for our PCB shop; however, few of us have been trained to do this kind of measuring, or what benchmarks we need to use. As you will see, by measuring our WIP level and comparing it to specific benchmarks, we can quickly assess the wellness of our factories.
