CGI today announced the award of a US$34.3 million contract from the U.S. Department of the Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) for Undersea Warfare Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance. The contract, with NAVSEA's Program Executive Office – Integrated Warfare Systems for Undersea Systems (PEO IWS 5), includes a base year, two option years and two award terms, and allows NAVSEA to achieve support continuity and retain the long-term technical expertise provided by CGI personnel.
"CGI is proud to support Naval Sea Systems Command and its critical mission to support the combat readiness of U.S. sailors and marines," said Tim Hurlebaus, President, CGI Federal. "By leveraging our long-term engagements with Naval commands in both the air and sea domains, CGI has the expertise required to support combat technologies that help the Navy defend the U.S. and its allies around the world."
Charged with providing the U.S. Naval fleet with technically superior warfighting capabilities, the PEO IWS 5 has responsibility for the development and delivery of innovative solutions and technology life-cycle management across Navy vessels stationed worldwide. The organization manages surface ship and submarine combat technologies and systems, and has coordinated the Navy Open Architecture across 275 ship platforms since its establishment in 2002.
Today's NAVSEA announcement follows CGI's recent selection as a technology provider for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) Navy's $50.3M contract to provide IT support services for its ongoing data center modernization program.
"We are privileged to have a strong, ongoing partnership with the U.S. Navy," said Andy Jackson, Vice President, Navy programs. "We look forward to building on our existing Naval systems and technologies business and are committed to maintaining a level of support and innovation that have been the hallmarks of our engagement with federal defense and security customers."
