All Flex Now Offers High Temp Flexible Circuits & Heaters
October 12, 2015 | All FlexEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
All Flex, manufacturer of flexible printed circuits and heaters, has developed a polyimide based material set specifically targeting the market for high temperature flexible circuits and flexible heaters. Increasing demands for high temperature applications have driven the development process at All Flex over the past 18 months. Premium performance within this challenging environment was achieved with a combination of newly developed materials and unique fabrication processes.
Polyimide heaters are known for their light weight, ability to conform within a 3D enclosure, and rapid temperature elevation. New applications have been designed using polyimide flexible heaters that heat quickly to 250°C and perform at this as a continued operating temp.
Senior Applications Engineer, Jamin Taylor says All Flex can service its customers better with this exceptional offering. “We’ve developed this product for applications challenged by requirements for temperature extremes. As customers continued to seek better thermal performance, our development team tested a range of materials under a variety of processing options. Traditional polyimide constructions are rated to perform well at 150-200°C. The new material construction significantly exceeds the top temperature performance available from alternative commercial products”.
Markets requiring thermal management at extreme temperatures include down hole oil drilling, semiconductor processing, medical diagnostics and instrumentation, and a multitude of military/aerospace requirements. All Flex is one of a few companies that offer high temperature flexible circuits as well as flexible heaters. Flexible circuits and heaters produced with the new material are UL rated to 94V-0 and 746F, meet IPC Specifications and are RoHS Compliant.
The new high temperature product also allows All Flex to expand its niche offering of extended length Maxi-flex® products, with flexible circuits and heaters that exceed 24” lengths.
All Flex has been manufacturing flexible circuits for nearly 25 years and added flexible polyimide and silicone rubber heater circuits to their product line in 2008. All Flex also provides comprehensive surface mount and thru hole component assembly services.
