PBN Announces Epec as Winner of Supply Chain Excellence Award
February 17, 2016 | EpecEstimated reading time: 1 minute
The third annual Manufacturing Awards hosted by Providence Business News (PBN) has announced that Epec Engineered Technologies has won a manufacturing award in the category of Supply Chain Excellence.
Beginning in 2014 and continuing through the end of 2015 Epec reduced the cost of freight by 2% which equated into significant cost savings. This was accomplished by working closely with key freight suppliers and instituting many new procedures such as changing methods of purchasing product to move from LCL ocean shipments to full container ocean shipments.
Epec's approach is implementing forward supply chain processes in areas such as forecast management, replenishment strategies, warehousing and logistics and electronic data interchange (EDI) along with forever focusing on reducing production lead times.
“Our supply chain management and logistics operation is crucial to the competitive advantages that Epec has in the marketplace," said CEO Ed McMahon. "By focusing significant resources on improving our supply chain each year, we can ensure that we have the best cost position in our industry and be able to deliver product faster than anyone else.”
Epec was among 13 other winning manufacturers of different categories selected by a panelist of judges. A recognition dinner will be held at Bryant University’s Bello Center on Tuesday, March 15, from 5:30-8:00pm.
