Rehm Delivers 4,000th Reflow Soldering System
February 24, 2016 | Rehm Thermal SystemsEstimated reading time: 1 minute

Rehm Thermal Systems has delivered its 4,000th reflow soldering system at the end of January. The VisionXP+ was delievered to Diehl Controls, a manufacturer of electronic components for the household appliance industry, for hardware and software solutions for central control units in buildings, and for products for energy management systems.
To date, Rehm has delivered 45 systems to Diehl, most of which were reflow convection soldering systems. The majority of them are still in productive use at sites in Germany, China, Poland and Mexico. The new VisionXP+ is currently one of eight Rehm systems used for production at Diehl Controls' site in Wangen im Allgäu, Germany.
"We are very pleased to have such reliable experts and skilled thermal system solution suppliers by our side. Our two companies have strong innovative aspirations, technological know-how and excellent product quality," said Katrin Laudensack, Operations Director for Diehl Controls at the plant in Wangen im Allgäu.
"Throughout every project in our many years of cooperation, the team headed by Managing Director Johannes Rehm has always been open and motivated to strike out in new directions and, in doing so, successfully meet the challenges we have faced. This has enabled us to find many individual process solutions together and continually develop ourselves further. These values have been the excellent basis for our cooperation since then," explained Anton Schwarz, Production Manager at Diehl Controls. He established contact with the company Rehm back in 1993, and ordered the first soldering system in 1996.
Diehl Controls was one of the first major customers to receive high-quality equipment from Rehm Thermal Systems after its founding in 1990. "We greatly value the trust placed in us and thank Diehl Controls for its positive cooperation, in which many new ideas and systems have been developed and a trusting business relationship has been forged. We look forward to many more ground-breaking projects," commented Wolfgang Zeifang, who is now the Technical Operations Manager at Rehm and has been involved in the partnership with Diehl right from the beginning.

Knocking Down the Bone Pile: Gold Mitigation for Class 2 Electronics
05/07/2025 | Nash Bell -- Column: Knocking Down the Bone PileIn electronic assemblies, the integrity of connections between components is paramount for ensuring reliability and performance. Gold embrittlement and dissolution are two critical phenomena that can compromise this integrity. Gold embrittlement occurs when gold diffuses into solder joints or alloys, resulting in mechanical brittleness and an increased susceptibility to cracking. Conversely, gold dissolution involves the melting away of gold into solder or metal matrices, potentially altering the electrical and mechanical properties of the joint.
