Vexos’s Markham Facility Approved for Registration to Canadian CGP
June 10, 2016 | VexosEstimated reading time: Less than a minute
EMS firm Vexos’ manufacturing facility in Markham, Ontario, Canada has been approved for registration to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), a Canadian Federal Government Program administered by Public Works and Government Services Canada and is legislated by the Defense Production Act (DPA) and the Controlled Goods Regulations (CGR).
“We continue to take important steps forward in establishing ourselves as a leading electronic manufacturing services provider in various industries,” said Cyril Fernandes, SVP & GM of Vexos Markham. “The CGP designation not only allows Vexos to provide EM services to organizations requiring compliance to the Canadian Export controls program, but to also support and work closely with our US based customers with ITAR controlled US programs.”
About the Controlled Goods Program
The Controlled Goods Program was created in 2001 to strengthen the Canada–U.S. agreement on defense trade controls and is essential to maintaining the unique Canadian exemption with respect to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A key objective of the program is to prevent the proliferation of tactical and strategic assets including weapons, satellite global positioning systems and communications equipment, military equipment and related intellectual property.
