John Tusant on Geek-A-Palooza
July 22, 2016 | Barry Matties, I-Connect007Estimated reading time: 1 minute

John Tusant of American Standard Circuits is a repeat attendee of Geek-A-Palooza events. Recently, at the first-ever West Coast Geek-A-Palooza event, he talked briefly with me about the benefits of attending.
Barry Matties: First of all, tell me what exactly American Standard does.
John Tusant: American Standard Circuits manufactures all types of printed circuit boards. We manufacturer RF, flex, rigid-flex, metal-backed, metal core, etc., and we do it for military, commercial, medical, automotive, and all industries. We’re based out of West Chicago.
Matties: We're here in Southern California at Geek-A-Palooza. What does an event like this mean to you guys?
Tusant: It just gives us an opportunity to contact more of the customers out here, OEMs and some CMs, and show them the materials, our capabilities, and exactly what we do for them.
Matties: Is this your first time attending at a Geek-A-Palooza event?
Tusant: This is the first Geek-A-Palooza event on the West Coast, so this is our first one here, but we've attended the event in Minnesota as well.
Matties: It sounds as if you're a very satisfied customer?
Tusant: We are.
Matties: What type of crowd comes through these events?
Tusant: We've had designers, scientists, material suppliers, engineers, buyers, and students. It's been a pretty broad mix.
Matties: Moving on from this event, how do you guys see the industry and the market right now?
Tusant: It's been pretty robust. A lot of people are complaining that it has been rather light, but we've experienced a lot of growth and it's been positive.
Matties: What do you attribute your growth to?
Tusant: Our capabilities. We do so much, including machining. We have our own machine shop, so we do all of our own metal-back and cores.
Matties: Fantastic. Well thanks for spending a little time with us today.
Tusant: Thank you.
