Newark InOne Posts Website-based WEEE Guide
August 30, 2005 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
CHICAGO — Premier Farnell plc subsidiary Newark InOne, a small-quantity electronic components and test equipment distributor in North America, has posted A Guide to the WEEE Directive in a downloadable format on its RoHS Express Website at www.newarkinone.com/rohs.
The guide was initially designed to help UK businesses comply with the WEEE legislation, which has a newly extended deadline of June 2006. The guide also has relevance for North American companies, as the need for recycling solutions will grow along with the number of e-recycling laws in the U.S. and Canada. Unlike its sister directive, RoHS, each European Union member state will differ in how it implements WEEE, which deals with the collection, treatment and recovery of nearly any electrical or electronic product that ends up in a landfill. Similarly, in the absence of national legislation, 28 states are writing their own WEEE-type laws. Newark InOne's RoHS Express site offers a detailed guide to pending and existing RoHS/WEEE-type legislation in the U.S. and Canada.
"The electronics industry is facing unprecedented change, and we are committed to helping our customers prepare for the implementation of complex green laws by providing them with critical information and helpful guides on our dedicated RoHS Express site," says Paul Tallentire, Newark InOne's president.
