SigmaPoint Adds Universal Fuzion Platform at New Advanced NPI Center

Canada-based EMS enhances rapid prototype/NPI capabilities at new Ontario facility. SigmaPoint Technologies is an electronic manufacturing services (EMS) provider delivering comprehensive services and solutions to customers across a broad spectrum of markets. The company has recently complemented its corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility, located in the Cornwall Business Park, Ontario, with the establishment of a 15,000 square-foot leading-edge prototype/NPI center in the Catalyst 137 IoT Manufacturing Center in Kitchener, Ontario. At this new facility, SigmaPoint has added a second Universal Instruments Fuzion2-37 Platform to its production line. Fuzion was chosen based on its proven ability to maintain consistently high throughput and easily adapt to new products.
“We’ve worked with Universal for more than 10 years now, and pride ourselves in developing strong relationships with key partners,” said SigmaPoint CEO, Dan Bergeron. “Fuzion is really a perfect fit for Catalyst137 due to its performance and adaptability. Our customer base is quite varied and the products can be very complex, but we have to be able to efficiently transition from one to the next, even when they’re vastly different.”
Bergeron continued, “We’ve leveraged Universal platform solutions for several years and they’ve been integral in helping us provide our customers the exceptional products and services they’ve come to expect from SigmaPoint. Now with the addition of Catalyst137, we’ve raised the bar by integrating our services into the hub of innovation, enabling us to further improve improving our customers’ value stream.”
Catalyst137 will serve the Toronto-Waterloo corridor high-tech sectors and local innovators in the IoT space. It will be home to everything needed to accelerate time-to-market, including a testing facility and commercialization services. SigmaPoint’s pioneering Catalyst137 prototyping facility will feature a production line with two Fuzion2-37 platforms, Convection Reflow, Wave Soldering, 3D AOI, 5D X-Ray and Flying Probe capabilities.
Bergeron noted, “The Catalyst137 facility will not only put SigmaPoint’s expertise at the disposal of the booming Toronto technology industry, since Waterloo is only an hour away, but is also places the facility directly within an area which boasts a heavily populated collection of start-ups and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that are geared toward innovation.”
Universal Instruments Vice President of Customer Operations, Brad Bennett stated, “SigmaPoint has been a great company to partner with and we’re excited to be a part of the Catalyst137 effort.
