The real cost to manufacture a PCB encompasses everything that goes into making the product: the materials and other value-added supplies, machine and personnel costs, and most importantly, your quality. A hard look at real costs seems wholly appropriate.
Alternate Metallization Processes
Traditional electroless copper and electroless copper immersion gold have been primary PCB plating methods for decades. But alternative plating metals and processes have been introduced over the past few years as miniaturization and advanced packaging continue to develop.

2019 International Electronics Circuit Exhibition Opens in Shenzhen
December 4, 2019 | HKPCAEstimated reading time: 4 minutes
The 2019 International Electronics Circuit Exhibition (Shenzhen) opened its doors on December 4, 2019 at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center in Shenzhen, China. This year’s 18th edition of the show—formerly the International Printed Circuit & APEX South China Fair—will run until December 6, showcasing products and services spanning the entire PCB industry supply chain.
The show—under the theme Converging Ideas, Steering Innovation, Navigating Industry—is organized by the Hong Kong Printed Circuit Association (HKPCA), in conjunction with a new partner this year, the China Printed Circuit Association (CPCA). This new collaboration aims to connect global industry leaders to spark great ideas and shape the industry’s development, while enhancing the capabilities of the China PCB industry.
Gigantic 2019 show smashes all previous records
Having already announced that this year’s event would expand from Halls 1, 2 and 4 of the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center to take up Hall 9 as well, making it the largest ever in the event’s history, the organizers announced that the show will be further expanded to part of Hall 3, driven by continuing demand from exhibitors.
This expansion will enable the event to accommodate a record-breaking 3,537 booths from 621 exhibitors, across a massive total show floor area of 68,900 square meters, ample space to display an enormous range of offerings including the latest up-to-the-minute innovative products and services.
Concurrent events promote knowledge and networking
As in previous years, the event will be staged concurrently with the three-day International Technical Conference, at which a strong international line-up of expert speakers will discuss the latest technological and market developments in the PCB industry, and the trends driving the industry’s direction.
Canice Chung, Chairman of HKPCA, said, “Apart from the attraction of advanced technology products showcased on the exhibition floor, there is also a wide selection of concurrent learning and networking events to bring you a rewarding experience. At our International Technical Conference this year, we have invited heavyweight industry experts from ZTE, NTI and Prismark etc. to share important insights into the latest market and technical developments.”
Those attending will gain valuable knowledge to help boost their business. Meanwhile other concurrent events, including Welcome Dinner and Golf Tournament, will offer participants numerous networking opportunities to develop new business contacts while exchanging ideas and experiences with industry peers.
New navigation app now available
To help visitors get full benefit from the show, a new navigation app, “Show Navi Pin,” is being introduced to steer them on the most direct route to any selected booth, as well as to assist them in searching for relevant exhibitors and present them with real-time Show news and exhibitors’ promotional messages. Visitors are required to follow our WeChat (PCB_SMT) and download the “Show Navi Pin.”
2020 event will prepare visitors for 5G
With 5G technology poised to transform the industry, the proliferation of connected devices will demand new and more sophisticated PCBs, forcing PCB manufacturers to raise their game across every area of activity. The landmark 19th edition of the show in 2020 will focus on preparing participants for the 5G era, under the theme 5G Era, Smart Future.
You Lei, Chairman of CPCA, said, “2019 is the first year of 5G application. In October, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile, and China Tower, announced the launch of 5G in China. The continuous application of new technologies like 5G in the future will create more development opportunities and a wider market for the PCB industry.”
The complex demands of 5G will make it more important than ever to keep pace with rapidly evolving industry trends, so don’t miss the 2020 show at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center, China, December 2-4, 2020.

About Hong Kong Printed Circuit Association (HKPCA)
HKPCA is a non-profit-making association founded in Hong Kong during 2000. Being one of the members of World Electronic Circuits Council (WECC), it helps us to get not only closer connections with overseas printed circuit associations but also better communications. Other WECC members include: CPCA, EIPC, ELCINA, IPC, IPCA, JPCA, KPCA and TPCA.
As the unique representative of the Hong Kong PCB industry, we aim to promote and protect the rights and interests of the industry. Performing the communication liaison role within the industry, a diversified communication platform is provided by HKPCA so that our members can be closely linked. Also, HKPCA represents the industry expressing our ideas and opinions to the government and relevant organizations.
HKPCA has more than 500 members. Total PCB production values reach around 9 billion dollars which occupy 34% of the PCB industry in China. Member categories differ from PCB manufacturers, PCB equipment, suppliers of chemicals and raw materials and other trade and software companies. HKPCA member base will be broadened by recruiting more and more qualified members. With all our efforts, the China PCB industry develops more prosperously.
