Sendai Murata Manufacturing Plant Set to Operate on 100% Renewable Energy
March 28, 2022 | Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
Sendai Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a manufacturing subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., will run on 100 percent renewable energy beginning April 1. The Murata Manufacturing Group is converting all electricity consumed in the Group's business activities into renewable energy to meet the goals of the RE100 global environmental initiative.
In recent years, the effects of climate change, such as rising sea levels and temperatures, as well as dramatic weather patterns, have become far more prevalent. To help resolve this, it is important for us as a company to work towards the realization of a sustainable society at a company level by implementing renewable energy and optimizing energy management.
To help reduce the burden on the power supply network, Sendai Murata plans to install a storage battery system in Summer 2022 similar to the one introduced at Kanazu Murata in October 2021. We will analyze and accumulate knowledge on how the system fares in different conditions at each production site – such as weather, manufactured products, and other factors – and work to develop a system that will operate efficiently at all production sites. After switching to 100% renewable energy on April 1, in the summer of 2022.
