New Products of SMT Assembly
December 31, 1969 |Estimated reading time: 3 minutes
Following are the new equipment, solder and materials, and software products released for high-changeover, high-reliability, high-mix, and other challenging SMT assembly environments.
Lifecycle Management for Medical DevicesAn upgrade to Magellon quality lifecycle management (QLM) software streamlines compliance with the FDA's Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 11 for medical device manufacturers. It combines data, analysis, and processes required for high quality and faster time-to-market. Magellon now includes electronic device history record data capture and storage to trace key product test, quality, and manufacturing process records electronically, from design through manufacturing and post-sales support. Its browser-based interface and database engine target the typically fragmented approach to collecting, analyzing and storing data, often in a wide variety of formats. Providing real-time access to the manufacturing floor, the software remotely monitors quality, testing, and production performance. Magellon generates full audit trails proving that authorized users are involved in key development phases, test devices are operating correctly, manufacturing teams are adequately trained from design through market delivery, and the integrity of manufacturing operations remain constant. These capabilities also support the FDA Sentinel System. CIMTEK, www.cimtek.com.
Fume Extraction Hood for Edge ConveyorsA new fume extraction hood system is designed for PROMATION's 1000-mm-long edge conveyors. It supports operations after conformal coating, such as dry, cure, inspect, and fume extraction. The hood mounts to a steel framing system that is 36? long and can be slid up from the rear of most 1000-mm conveyors. The hood comes with a standard 7? port for customer vacuum hook-up. Black lights may be added to assist in coating inspection. PROMATION, www.pro-mation-inc.com.
PCB Design EnvironmentCADSTAR 11 offers new functions for front-end engineering development teams. It supports high-pin-count devices, plus for electrical engineers E3.logic helps bring cable design closer to PCB integration. The 11 version includes new functionality relating to pin management; new library management wizards, to create Multi Gates and export Multi Gate Data for the creation of Part Edit Definition; expanded capabilities for the Place and Route Editor (P.R.Editor), to reduce the design cycle time; improved Design Editor, to reduce PCB manufacturer's waste costs; an enhanced library searcher facility, and improved manufacturing output; and intelligent auto routing solution, the Dragon Router, that combines intelligence and a methodology-driven approach after analyzing your design guiding the user through the right-first-time creation of boards in shorter time frames. Based upon a Routing Strategy Environment (RSE), Dragon will provide an analysis of the board plus the best strategy, The Dragon Router is also available as an add-on from P.R.Editor XR2000 L4. EMI Filter PlateThis EMI filter plate includes special epoxy potting and a rubber pin protector for applications where rough handling or challenging environmental conditions are typical. The filter plates use ceramic capacitors as the filter element and the potting protects their electrical and mechanical integrity. The rubber pin protector prevents leads from being bent during transit and handling. The filter plates are available in Easy Mate, Easy Mate Jr., bolt-in, and shrouded latch styles. They provide an EMI-filtered signal line between electronic modules, good isolation from 5 MHz to 18 GHz, and are available in a variety of plate sizes and up to 74 lines per plate in high-density (2 mm) and 60 pins per plate in standard density (.100") configurations. They suit medical, telecom, aerospace, and industrial applications where rough handling would adversely affect stability. Spectrum Control Inc., www.specemc.com.
PCBA Traceability SystemProcessWatch production process traceability suite offers track and trace capabilities to small- and medium-sized enterprises. ProcessWatch enables manufacturers to trace boards and record events throughout the assembly process and keep track of associated consumables, stencils, and tooling. Its real-time production control capabilities include stencil/board/tooling compatibilities, materials aging, events alerts, etc. Users can follow individual board batches and record all the events during production; track stencils and be alerted about the usage, the cleaning requirements, and the design revisions or obsolescence; follow consumables; print a report covering a specific production batch; and trace individual boards and review the conditions under which each has been produced.
