Military Components Updated
August 10, 2007 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
RENO, Nev. EM Research, Inc., updated its available frequency-synthesizer components for military and harsh-environment applications. These include miniature, multi-purpose, and Ku-band varieties, in tin/lead or lead-free options.
The miniature LT series offers high vibration tolerance in a shielded-aluminum surface mount package. The component family operates with minimal phase-noise degradation at random vibration levels exceeding 14 G RMS, 20 Hz to 2 KHz. The components are available hermetically sealed, RoHS-compliant, lead-free, or tin-mitigated. They exhibit negligible microphonics under shock, and meet local oscillator requirements in UAV, re-entry vehicles for sounding rockets, and military ballistics.
For Ku-band frequencies, the HLX-series phase-locked oscillators and frequency synthesizers are hermetically sealed and hybridized surface mount devices (SMDs). In military, aerospace, nautical, or other high-reliability applications, the SMDs operate at -40°C to +85°C and measure 0.81" × 0.81" × 0.15". They arrive in fixed-frequency or serially programmable sources with outputs from 50 MHz to +12.5 Ghz.
EM offers the fixed-frequency SLFS and serially programmable SLS series from 50 MHz to more than 12 GHz frequencies. SLS step sizes range between 10 KHz and 10 MHz, with RS-232/USB serial programming. Optional internal buffer amplifiers for up to +13-dBm output with supplies from +5 to +12 tailor components to applications. The units measure 1.5" × 1.5" × 0.6" and weigh less than 2 oz. SMA connectors provide reference and output frequencies.
