Cookson Launches Flux Selector Service
June 20, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
JERSEY CITY, N.J. To help assemblers identify the appropriate flux for use in a given application, Cookson Electronics Assembly Materials (CEAM) launched an online, interactive service, ALPHA wave solder flux selector tool. The selector offers a systematic approach to choosing fluxes based on user-defined parameters.
Customer, ALPHA, and distributor responses have been positive, said Mike Murphy, global product manager for chemicals, ALPHA. The flux portfolio includes tin/lead- and lead-free-compatible products, the EF series for environmental and worker safety, and other Cookson fluxes. "The Selector uses a set of simple questions about an assembler's process in order to identify the "category" of flux they should use; then an additional set of processing parameters narrows the list even further. The tool aids engineers in optimizing consumables for a project's parameters," Murphy added.
Designed for global use, the selector is available to registered ALPHA website visitors at www.alphametals.com.
