Compact Pick-and-Place for High Mix
May 3, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
MUNICH, Germany Siemens A&G released two compact D-Series pick-and-place machines: the D1 single-gantry and D2 dual-gantry. The systems feature updated placement heads and compatibility with other D-Series machines. They target medium-volume, high-quality, high-mix manufacturing.
The systems incorporate six- and twelve-nozzle heads, as well as Siplace pick-and-place heads for complex, odd-form components. The D2 can output a maximum 31,000 cph. The D1, depending on head configuration, offers throughput of up to 15,000 cph. Both machines feature digital vision systems, Siplace software and dual transport, S feeders compatible with legacy platforms, and external Vision Teaching stations. Vision Teaching stations allow operators to program new package shapes while the system operates, which is said to increase up-time.
D1 and D2 combinations are reportedly scalable and cost-effective, placing components from 01005s to 10 × 125 mm. Siemens recommends D4, a larger machine; and D1 combinations for high-volume manufacturing with a large range of components.
