Elcoteq Calls for DfM
May 1, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
IRVING, Texas Arno Kolk, Elcoteq's senior manager business development, presented, "Design for Manufacture A Key Factor in Cost Reduction for Wireless Infrastructure," at the 5th International Basestation Conference in Bath, U.K. Axis Network Technology also presented a digital radio platform, as Elcoteq supported Axis since the early design phase with design for manufacturing (DfM) services on the product.
Implementing DfM as early as possible in a new product's design can effectively reduce costs, said Kolk, who manages the communications networks business area. "This is especially true when the design team involves the manufacturing specialist in the design stage," he added. Elcoteq has been involved in the base station market for many years with its communications networks business area, which manufactures wireless and wireline infrastructure products and enterprise systems for European, Asian, and American OEMs and Tier 2 companies. As an EMS provider, the company is involved in product development, new product introduction (NPI), components sourcing, supply chain management, and a range of additional services throughout the product lifecycle.
