Agilent Names VP Corporate Development

SANTA CLARA, Calif. Shiela Robertson will succeed John Eaton as VP of corporate development at Agilent Technologies Inc. Eaton will retire after 23 years with Agilent and Hewlett-Packard (HP). Robertson's post as operational CFO, electronic measurement group (EMG), will be filled by Robert Cantrell.
Robertson began her career as a financial analyst with Hewlett-Packard in 1980. In 1999, she became Agilent's transition general manager, supervising the operational transition bringing Agilent into operation as an independent company. For the past four years, as group controller and operational CFO, Robertson was responsible for improving operating margins for EMG, strategic planning, and financial and operational metrics for all operating organizations. Robertson is a graduate of Santa Clara University, with a bachelors in history and an MBA.
Eaton, who joined HP in the U.K. in 1984, has been VP of corporate development since Agilent was created in 1999, and was part of the spin-off team from HP. He led closing on 35 acquisitions and 15 investments, and participated in the 2001 divestiture of the healthcare products group, the 2005 sales of the semiconductor products group and Lumileds, and the 2006 initial public offering (IPO) and spin-off of Verigy. From 2003 to 2005, Eaton also served as treasurer.
Cantrell , who was most recently group controller for Agilent's global infrastructure organization, joined HP/Agilent in 1986 with a BS in business administration from San Jose State University, and has held a variety of positions in division, business unit, and group finance organizations. He became a division controller in 1997, responsible for the signal analysis and surveillance businesses, and was later named the division controller for logic analyzers and pulse generators. Cantrell also served as worldwide R&D/marketing controller, order fulfillment controller, and controller of the wireless business unit.
