RFID Integration Enables Pick-and-Place Tracking
February 20, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
BROMONT, Canada Panasonic Factory Solutions Company of America partnered with Cogiscan to develop an RFID smart feeder kit for the Panasonic IPAC pick-and-place machine. The kit, which integrates Cogiscan RFIDs and the Panasonic PanaCIM verification and traceability system, is displayed at Booth 2521 at IPC Printed Circuits Expo/APEX/Designers Summit, February 2022 in Los Angeles.
This real-time track/trace/control system for feeders on and off the SMT line is the first step of the collaboration, according to Panasonic and Cogiscan. The companies installed a complete demonstration system on an IPAC machine in the Panasonic demonstration room in Chicago.
Existing facilities can be retrofitted by attaching RFID tags to tape feeders, and low-profile RFID antennae and readers to machines, feeder banks, and storage carts. The integrated system will be offered on new machines.
