Collaboration Yields High-mix Systems
January 26, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
FRANKLIN, Mass. PKC Electronics Oy chose the Electrovert OmniFlex 10 reflow oven, MPM Accela printer, and Electrovert VectraElite wave-soldering system from Speedline Technologies to outfit its new production lines in Finland and Russia. The companies also collaborated to develop a center board support (CBS) system to suit PKC's production flow.
The engineering teams of each company jointly developed the CBS to adjust to a high product mix. It needed to accommodate the production environment, which could be a batch size of 1 to 10,000 boards with quick turnaround, said Kyösti Saarijävi, principle engineering manager at PKC. The EMS provider cited performance capability and energy efficiency as reasons for the oven purchases. The printers and wave systems also were said to suit production needs and complement other equipment.
