KIC Develops Automatic Profiling System
November 14, 2006 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
SAN DIEGO, Calif. KIC introduced KIC Vision, an automatic profiling system, for a low-cost alternative to manual verification profiling for reflow processes. The company claims that the automatic profiling will maintain production quality and process documentation standards achieved by periodic manual profiling, without interrupting production flow or additional equipment. The product runs in the background continuously and automatically, providing information as frequently as once an hour. The system relies on embedded sensors in the reflow oven and Virtual Profiling software; after a baseline profile, the product profile is automatically measured and logged in the computer.
Data output includes peak temperature, soak, fit to process window, etc. The user may incrementally adjust the automatic profiling frequency from one profile/hour up to once a week time slots, in one-hour intervals. The product may reduce production downtime, recover labor time, and improve product quality, according to the company.
