ITW Acquires Kester

GLENVIEW, Ill. Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) has acquired all shares of solder supplier Kester, Inc. (Des Plaines, Ill.). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Kester provides product for manufacturers of computers, communications devices, consumer products, medical equipment, and military/defense products.
Kester's 2006 revenues are estimated at $175 million, more than 40% of which comes from Asia. The remaining revenues are generated in North America, Europe, and South America. ITW, a maker of highly engineered components and industrial systems and consumables, claims $12.8 billion in revenues. The company is comprised of about 700 business units throughout 48 countries. ITW employs about 50,000 people.
