MLCC Capacitors Offer a Smaller Alternative to SMDs
January 17, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — TAIYO YUDEN (U.S.A.) Inc.'s ultra-small EIA 0402 case size (1.0 x 0.5 x 0.5 mm) has been added to its CFCAP line of low-distortion surface-mount multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC). The new case size, smaller than the smallest available film capacitors (0603) while offering comparable electrical characteristics, are particularly suited for use in PLL (phase locked loop) and filter coupling circuits in mobile phones and other ultra-portable devices.
In addition, CFCAP MLCCs offer stability against voltage, heat, mechanical shocks and other external energy surges. The nine available models in the series provide DC voltage ratings of 10, 16 and 25 V; capacitance values from 1000 to 4700 pF; and an operating temperature range of -55° to 125°C.
