Three-Five Systems Expands E-business Initiatives with Future Electronics
November 3, 2004 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Tempe, Ariz.—Three-Five Systems (TFS) announces that it has extended its electronic purchase order transaction system to include Future Electronics. The two companies are interfacing via RosettaNet standard Partner Interface Process (PIP), a system-to-system, XML-based dialogue that aims at allowing businesses to align specific processes with those of trading partners. RosettaNet is a non-profit consortium of more than 500 technology organizations working to create, implement, and promote open e-business standards and services.
The RosettaNet implementation is the second between TFS and its suppliers and replaces the semi-automated purchase order process that TFS and Future were previously using. RosettaNet protocols expand the two companies' electronic purchase transactions to include full automation of purchase orders, pricing, quantity verification and delivery confirmation, among other capabilities. RosettaNet's PIP also allows for future automation of other higher-level business-to-business processes, such as invoicing and payment.
"Maximizing supply chain management efficiency through the use of technology initiatives is a key focus for TFS, and the RosettaNet implementation is a great example of high-level synchronization between supply chain management and information technology," says Jeff Perry, CIO at TFS. "Real-time electronic communication with suppliers like Future Electronics significantly drives down order processing time, which directly translates to better service for our customers."
"Future Electronics is committed to TFS on a global level," says Derek Atkinson, GM at Future Electronics Seattle. "The RosettaNet implementation demonstrates the strength and depth of the TFS/Future Electronics relationship. Continual improvement of business practices and the resulting streamlined supply chain process is a win for TFS and its customer base."
