NEPCON to Return to Texas in 2004
July 22, 2004 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Arlington, Texas — Sparked by an economic upturn, the NEPCON electronics manufacturing tradeshow will be returning to Texas in October 2004.
NEPCON Texas will remain in the Dallas area but will relocate from a downtown venue to the convenient Arlington Convention Center in Arlington, Texas. The event will feature leading suppliers displaying the full range of electronics manufacturing solutions including adhesives, advance microelectronics, test equipment, rework, wire and cable assembly, and active components. As with all of the NEPCON events, the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) will continues its association with NEPCON by producing the co-located SMTA Texas Conference program. The two-day exhibition and conference will take place on October 20 through 21, 2004.
Joining the NEPCON Texas event in 2004 will be the Assembly Texas Pavilion, featuring automated and manual assembly solutions. Together, these events will provide the region's manufacturers with a single, convenient source for leading-edge manufacturing solutions at the board, component and final product assembly levels. The exhibition will featuring leading national suppliers such as Atlas Copco, DEK USA, Deprag, JUKI Automation, MYDATA Automation, Siemens Dematic and Universal Instruments, as well as leading area rep groups such as DG Marketing, IPS Group and Southwest Systems.
NEPCON Texas will feature several free special events highlighted by a keynote presentation on nanotechnology by Oscar Garcia, Ph.D., founding dean of the College of Engineering at the University of North Texas. The university recently was awarded $2.8 million for its state-of-the-art interdisciplinary Center for Advanced Research and Technology. Scientists at the center use nanotechnology to study materials at the molecular and atomic levels. Improved products such as molecular computers and treatments for cancer are being engineered through nanotechnology. Some experts predict that nanotechnology will become a $1 trillion industry by 2015. The funding will allow them to broaden the scope of their operation to include other research developments in computing, engineering, technology and electrical engineering.
NEPCON Texas is supported by The Metroplex Technology Business Council of Richardson, Texas. The MTBC is an association of technology companies dedicated to the development and growth of a global center of excellence for the Telecom Corridor area and the North Texas region.
