National Quality Assurance, USA Accredits to ANSI/ESD S20.20-1999 for Development of ESD Control Program
April 28, 2004 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Acton, Mass. — National Quality Assurance USA announces its accreditation through the Electrostatic Discharge Association to provide audit services against the ANSI/ESD S20.20-1999 Standard for the Development of an Electrostatic Discharge Control Program.
The standard covers the requirements to design, establish, implement and maintain an ESD control program to protect electrical or electronic parts, assemblies and equipment susceptible to ESD damage.
With support from major electronic OEMs and government agencies, ESD S20.20 programs and certification are quickly becoming highly regarded in the telecommunication, aerospace and medical device industries as the preferred means to prevent costly field failures and in-house rework of electronic components. An ESD control program helps eliminate component failures before they occur, thus saving organizations valuable time and money while increasing customer satisfaction.
Since ANSI/ESD S20.20 is not directly ISO-based and is more focused in scope than a Quality System registration, programs can be implemented and certified without any pre-existing Quality System registrations. Certification also can be performed in conjunction with any existing ISO-based registration visits in order to minimize disruptions and better view the programs working in tandem, making ANSI/ESD Certification a perfect complement to an existing TL 9000, AS9100 or ISO 13485 registration.
NQA USA was established in 1992 as a joint venture between London-based National Quality Assurance Ltd. and Calabasas, Calif.-based National Technical Systems Inc. It is a world-renowned ISO 9001, ISO 14001, TS 16949 and AS9100 registrar. For more information, visit www.nqa-usa.com.
