ElectroniCast Forecasts SAN and RSAN Consumption Will Reach $1.32 Billion in 2006

Five years ago, in 1997, SANs were not a major market, relative to overall enterprise consumption of computational, storage and related interconnect equipment. The global consumption of fiber optic interconnect links in SANs and related equipment was even less impressive: less than $10 million. However, over the 1998-2002 span data rates of SAN intra-equipment and between-equipments fiber interconnect have multiplied dramatically, pushing designers to evolve from copper to fiber interconnect. Also, the number of equipment units produced per year and the data throughput per typical equipment unit have grown explosively.
Quebec City -- EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. has received notification that its contract has been extended with the US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).
