Foxconn to Manufacture Xiaomi, Asustek Smartphones in Brazil Plant

Foxconn Electronics will be manufacturing Xiaomi Technology's entry-level Hong Mi (Red Rice) 2 smartphone and Asustek Computer's ZenFone 2 smartphone in its factory in Brazil, according to a Digitimes report.
Foxconn and other Taiwan-based notebook ODMs including Quanta Computer and Compal Electronics have set up assembly factories in Brazil amid the government's imposition of high customs tariff rates on imported consumer electronics. This is to encourage assembly into products in Brazil.
